missionpossible1It is extremely hard to make a success of anything on your own. We all need like-minded companionship and support. For those times when you genuinely wonder if you are walking up the right trail, there is nothing better than to talk to a friend or colleague and just ask ‘Am I totally off track with this, or am I on to something?’ 

There is, without doubt, power in numbers. When you are part of a community, you develop a sense of strength, balance and unwavering belief that the group project is absolutely achievable. Collective consciousness can move mountains or, at the very least, shift those stubborn obstacles that may just be a tiny blip in your mindset, maybe a snippet of negativity that prevents you from fully achieving your potential. With a community behind you, those deep-rooted fears can be put to sleep and you can start to unfold your wings to drive you towards the things in life that you want more than anything else.

You have to believe! You have to, otherwise what will happen? You will, over time, become jaded by life. You will start growing the shell of cynicism that mutes all the colours of your life. Reach that point and you lose the passion that is ultimately the fuel that keeps you going. Supercharge with rocket fuel not something that you would put in the garden mower!

There is nothing that inflames your energy more than taking a risk. Simply look at the pioneers of our world. One thing always stands out – they take the risks that others are too fearful to take. Susan Jeffers wrote a popular and well-known book called ‘Feel the fear and do it anyway’ and that is the one sentence that would serve to be imprinted on your brain. Look, none of know how long we will live on this mortal earth. We cannot assume that we will make it to our 80’s or 90’s so why not live for today, embrace that sticky old fear and tell it to ‘do one’. I promise you, if you can reach down to your socks and pull yourself up to overcome self-doubt, you will feel more alive than you can possibly imagine.

You can do it!

recruitingToday I want to talk about the issues you might be having in referring people to your business. This is a huge area of concern for an extraordinary amount of people and it truly does not need to be a problem for you.

I have been recruiting for a business that I joined last week, a solid, established company that I am very happy to be a part of. In a week, I have recruited seven people so far and have been working with some of them to debunk the mystery of how to recruit. Though the business can be 100% passive, there are extra benefits to sharing the business.

First of all, there is the problem. That word ‘RECRUIT’ seems to send shivers down your spine doesn’t it? Go on, admit it 🙂 You don’t want to do it, do you? You are scared right? ‘How about if someone says no, or they ask me questions’ you say, ‘I won’t know how to handle it’ I see people go into a total brain freeze on this subject.

So, let’s clear up a bit of a misnomer you may have about recruiting. You are not actually fearful of recruiting, you are fearful of people saying NO!!!!

I am qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and NLP. Part of the process  of these therapies is to challenge our own thoughts, emotions and feelings and look behind what is driving them. How about these three?

1. I will feel rejected
2. They won’t like me
3. They may ridicule me

1. My background is in direct sales, so I know from experience that you will get a lot of no’s before you get a yes. That is a fact. People ARE going to say NO to you. But, some will say yes. Expecting everyone to say yes is not realistic.

2. Maybe they won’t, maybe they will but whichever it is, is their issue not yours.

3. Many people do not understand online businesses. They will throw cautionary tales of ponzi or pyramid schemes and scams at you and warn you to be careful. Many people have no idea what a ponzi or pyramid scheme actually is, or they may do some research on the Internet and find bad press about your company. Tell them to search for any online company and put the word ‘scam‘ in the search. 90% of more will come back with bad press but often these online keyboard warriors just get a kick out of bad mouthing companies. Ignore these warnings and do your own research by talking to people already in the company.

Here’s the real secret to bringing people into your business ……………..

This is so easy that people simply can’t believe it.

The real secret is to genuinely care about people and believe 100% in the company you are promoting. It also helps to know as much about the business and the opportunity as you can.

You need to believe with all of your heart that you ARE helping your friends to a better life.

I believe in the business I have been sharing. I know that it will help a lot of my friends out of financial hardship. It is an 8-year-old company with a solid reputation and ethics.

Several of my friends said no to me at first. Quite often people say no to us because they do not understand, or do not fully appreciate the benefits. So it is our job to explain properly so that they do understand and thus make an informed decision. Calling them up and saying ‘this is brilliant, you gotta get in on this’ generally won’t work. But, conversely, don’t overload them with information. Provide snippets and allow them to ask questions. They will learn more this way.

Don’t accept no as the final answer. One of my friends reversed his ‘no’ when I simply said that I respected her decision but that I didn’t want her to miss out. Just like that 🙂

Recruiting people into your business does not have to be difficult. Share your experiences, your successes and your results and don’t attach a huge amount of emotional resources into the process. People either will or won’t join you. But, if you keep going, I guarantee that you will succeed in this area of skill.

Deep Down…..

depressionIt is hard to believe that my last post was way back in January. This last few months have been some of the worst of my life. My role as a positive mentor has definitely been put on the back burner as I scrabbled around, searching for the positive in my own life.

Why am I sharing this with you? Well, of course, we all appreciate that we don’t live in a magical fairyland where everything is always sparkly and good.  Life can, and often does, hit you between the teeth. Sometimes, even the strongest among us can falter and fall.

My entire life has been grounded in hope and optimism, rooted in a positive approach to life. But, somehow, this year, as straw after straw piled onto my back, the foundations collapsed and so did I.

I am not yet out of the woods, but my saving grace is awareness. I know I am in a bad way and I know that, ultimately, I can and will change that. I understand that it won’t last. Everything in life is transient. I believe that a part of my breakdown was caused by my failure to be present and aware of potential pitfalls. I acted on blind faith and hope. Often, that works out okay but, in this instance, it wasn’t enough.

I believe that our purpose in life is to learn from the lessons that it gives us. Right now, I am limping along, fragile and broken but knowing that something great will come from this. It may be days, weeks or months but the reason for my hardship will become apparent and then I can move on.

Maybe you have never experienced depression, stress or a breakdown. But, if you have, these are the things that might help you:-

  1. Be nice to yourself –  It is all too easy to beat ourselves up for being anything other than perfect. Be the best friend that looks out for you, supports you and allows yourself to process whatever it is that you are going through.
  2. Let it be okay –  The tendency is for us to try and get back to wellness too quickly. We don’t allow ourselves the time to grieve for the losses of our inner being. Accept where you are. Relinquish the need to get back to being strong and certain. Acceptance is key to recovery
  3. Have quiet time – Walk the dogs, meditate, listen to music, be out in nature, or whatever allows you to be still
  4. Talk to someone – This isn’t always easy. I started counselling but the lady did not understand the life of an entrepreneur and was pushing me to do things that I did not want, and would not do. The person you talk to must be able to relate  to you on a level where they can appreciate where you are stuck. Lately, I have been telling friends about how I am and it has helped
  5. Write affirmations – Fill your life with as many positive external things as you can. Affirmations written as if they have happened can help your brain to start seeking confirmation of good things. Listen to positive CD’s, read books, fill your mind with anything that is the opposite of how you are feeling.
  6. Take baby steps – I write small goals each day now. When I have achieved them, I tick them off and get a sense of achievement. Don’t expect big things of yourself. Be happy to just manage to ‘do’ anything.
  7. Take time off – this may be different for people but I simply couldn’t work. My head was like mush, my memory appalling and I simply didn’t want to be around people. Taking time off has helped to take the pressure off myself to perform, to pretend I am feeling any way other than how I am feeling.

I have not left you. I will be back. I fully expect to be fitter and stronger. I have managed, somehow, to build a small team for a business launch this week.  I hope that this will be one part in the jigsaw to getting my mojo back.

Stress and Fatigue

Illu_adrenal_glandI am writing a stress management course right now and I was reminded of a few things as I tapped into my subject.

Stress is a very real problem in today’s world. I think that we can often get so caught up in trying to define our future, that we simply don’t notice our stress responses in this moment.

If unchecked, prolonged stress can lead to something called adrenal fatigue where your cortisol and adrenalin hormones become depleted. This will leave you feeling exhausted. Unfortunately, it can take months to years to recover from adrenal fatigue, so the best thing is to not get to that point EVER.

Cortisol and adrenalin and negative hormones, but we do need them. What we don’t need is to have them surging through our bodies continually.

On our quest for success, we may ignore the signals that our bodies are desperately trying to give us. Whatever we do, we must always aim for BALANCE. If you work hard, make certain that you take time out for play and relaxation. If you find it hard to switch off, as I do, then take up something like Yoga, Meditation, Mindfulness practice, Tai Chi, Qi Gong etc, anything that enables you to switch off and helps you connect your mind and your body.

I truly believe that it is easier to become successful when you are balanced. It is easier to focus and the efforts that you do make will be more productive.

You will fail if……..

failureIf you want to succeed online, there are some things that you need to know………

You will fail IF……….

1. You cannot follow simple instructions.
2. You do not take daily actions.
3. You are not coachable.
4. You do not appreciate that it takes time to build a business, and make allowances for that.
5. You quit.

Of course, if you do the exact opposite to the above, you will succeed.

The people that are succeeding, that are making money online, are able to follow instructions, attend meetings, watch training videos and implement that training. They take daily action and adjust those actions as necessary. They do what needs to be done. They remain open to learning, they know that it takes time and they never quit.

A flexible mindset also helps, as does a fearless approach to risk. There is little room for fear on this journey. Money makes money, so you have to spread a little to gain a lot.

I see many people floundering online and I truly believe that a huge part of that failure is from the 5 reasons above.

Watching for signs ….

butterflyA week ago, we buried my little ferret, Pumpkin. We found a beautiful box with a large, red admiral butterfly on it. Sitting in the house, ten minutes later, a red admiral butterfly flies into the lounge. Two days later, another one flies into my face in the hall. A day later another one is sitting on the hall floor. Walking the dogs this week, red admiral butterflies fly directly at me and dance around me as I ask, ‘Is that you Pumpkin?’

I have followed a deeply, spiritual path since my epic breakdown in 1995. Not a lot of people know that about me on Facebook. A big part of my journey was as an animal healer and communicator. I have helped hundreds of animals and their owners since 1995, when I began to discover my gifts as a healer.

When I was a child, dogs used to follow me home, feisty horses calmed down around me. I have had so many beautiful, surreal experiences with animals. Animals have always been my true connection to life, right from childhood when I struggled to make friends because of acute shyness and lack of social skills.

So, to me, this is a sign that Pumpkin is at peace, her playful, loving spirit dancing into my life at a time when I have been too stationary, sitting at my laptop for too long and forgetting how important it is to connect with the movement, energy and vibration of life.

The next day, after writing this article, I was cleaning a shelf, when I noticed a butterfly on the spine of an old book. I carefully lifted it off, thinking it was dead, but it started to open it’s wings and then, once it had recovered, it flew away. The picture on this post is that butterfly. How magical all of this was….

Getting people to your business

Traffic leads to salesOne absolute essential for any online business is traffic. You have to get your opportunity in front of people one way or another. I use a lead generation system that has quality, high opt in capture pages done for you. In fact they do have some generic sales funnels for a wide range of companies.

Once you have a capture page, you then have to drive traffic to it. If you send traffic to your corporate site, you will never know who these people are or get a chance to communicate with them. That is the reason for a good capture page. If you haven’t set this up yet, please do view my team build page for details.

There are lots of ways to drive traffic but one paid source is solo ads. A solo ad vendor is simply someone who has access to a large list of people who have opted in for details of a business opportunity. They will send out your email copy and link to their list. If you find a good vendor, you can anticipate anywhere from a 30-50% opt in to your capture page. Then these people will be linked in to your auto-responders.

Finding a good solo ad vendor can be a minefield. How do you know they are going to do the job and not take your money? How can you find out if the results they say they will get you are true? Well here it is. Do a search for solo ads on Facebook and you will find various groups.

Ask your solo ad vendor to create your campaign on a Tuesday or Thursday. Split testing shows that these two days produce the best response.

It’s me again

Follow UpDo not be afraid of the follow-up.

I can’t recollect the percentages, but I remember reading that it can take up to seven follow ups for someone to convert. There is good reason for this. It might surprise you.

When someone doesn’t get back to you or fails to do something that they said they were going to do, don’t take it personally. One of the main reasons for people not taking action is that they get distracted.

I sometimes scroll through my Facebook messages and find links and videos that I promised I would watch. I feel bad for not doing so, but I am human just like the rest of us.

So, how do you follow-up with someone who you have had a conversation with? Maybe they have expressed interest, they may have been skeptical or perhaps peered at you a bit from the fence they are sitting on.

When you contact them, remind them of your previous conversation

“Hi David,

Hope all is well with you and that you are having a great week. I see you went to Brussels for the weekend, how was that?

The reason I am contacting you is that I wanted to follow-up on our chat the other night about the lead generation company that I am with.  You recollect that I mentioned that you could join for free?”

Then start the line of talking. Don’t do the hard-line sell EVER. Find out what their issues are. For instance as in above, is David having issues getting referrals? Does he have a lead generation system? Don’t be afraid to tackle these issues head on. If David says he isn’t really interested in a lead generation system, politely ask him how he plans to build his list and ask what he is currently doing.

Stay pleasant and friendly but get to the core of what your prospect needs. If he says he will check it out, suggest a time for when you can catch up again based on when he says he will do it. Tell him you will contact him at an arranged date and time and follow through again.

Remember, everyone has busy lives. When they don’t do what they say they are going to do, it is not a personal rejection of you.

The only thing remaining to impart is that you must do what YOU say you ARE going to do, regardless. Tardiness is not a good trait to have in this business, so keep your appointments.

Facilitation

Become a FacilitatorI have learned something truly valuable quite recently and I personally believe that it can impact any business quite dramatically.

It is this……..

We all think that we have to recruit hard, we have to sell, we have to persuade people into our business.

You don’t…..

Think of yourself more as a facilitator, a person that sets up a situation that can help another person to get to be where they want, to do what they want or have what they want. You can facilitate people towards greater confidence, self belief or indeed anything that helps them to create the mental shift that is needed for success.

The entire process of ‘recruiting’ is no longer an issue. On a weekly basis, I am bringing 2 – 6 people into one or more of my own businesses. I don’t even think about it as recruiting, more like positioning people in a place that is right for them.

I believe that to succeed in this business you have to have two things in place:-

1. The right mindset
2.The ability to be flexible in that mindset so that you can adapt in a heartbeat
